Tucked in the Holly Hill Recycling Center sits one of the Town of Greenwich’s best kept secrets – The Greenwich Book Swap. What started over 40 years ago with just a few folding tables by book lover Doug Francefort has since evolved into an operation that averages about 150 visitors a day who take away 400 – 500 books, averaging over 100,000 books a year. The Book Swap is an all volunteer effort run by core volunteers Lorrie Stapleton, Rich Kane, Steve Boies, Jim Grout, Janet Mackenzie, Lynn Clarke, Bob Bishop and Matt Shapiro. Residents are able to visit the Book Swap Friday and Saturday mornings to drop off unwanted books and can take 10 books a day. This is a fun stop on a weekend morning to find your next read!
